VOICE-OVER WORKSHOP
Information
his four-week workshop is an introduction to Voice Acting taught in-person at our studio at 136 Locke Street South, 2nd Floor in Hamilton.
This workshop covers the basics in voice acting for commercials, narration, video games, audio books and more. Workshop topics include pronunciation, emphasis, accents, characters, impersonations, mic technique, breathing, reading ahead and script reading. Students will also learn the business side: submitting demos, casting calls, remote recording, in-person auditions and recording sessions as well as different formats and terms used by professionals in the industry.
During the workshop, students will record several commercial and character spots that highlight their individuality and demonstrate their range and ability as voice actors. We highly recommend purchasing a professional microphone for this workshop to ensure your best performance. Any decent USB Mic and Laptop combination will do, but we do recommend one of the following, a Rode NT USB mini, Audio-Technical AT2020 USB, Blue Yeti USB Microphone, Samson C01UPro USB condenser microphone or Shure MV7 XLR USB hybrid mic. These can be purchased at Long & McQuad or on Amazon. But you can also use your phone as a last resort, we just require that you have a laptop or similar device so that we can guide you through the recording, editing and exporting process of the software.
This workshop will conclude with a finished voice acting demo that will be featured on the Vogue Models & Talent website. Our sound engineer will collect your recordings, source background music and edit them into a professional voice demo that will be used to submit to clients, and that you can add to your acting profiles, website and various casting sites. For samples of Voice Over Demos please open this link from our website of Voice Demo talent that we represent.
