As an agent we will submit you to be seen by Casting Directors for television commercials, music videos, corporate videos, corporate website videos, infomercials and television series…you name it, we do it!

Commercial Audition 'ZOOM' Workshop

This workshop is taught by 'Zoom' and is designed to teach you the basics of what you need to know to book a commercial. It will cover casting room etiquette, actor preparation, camera technique and improvisation plus how to make a great 'self tape' for auditioning. You will learn the first steps to take to be relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera and how to take direction and make good dramatic choices.

You will also receive an included photoshoot for the perfect headshot to get you started!

Acting for Film & Television 'ZOOM' Classes

Acting for Film & Television will focus on being yourself and feeling comfortable on camera. You will also learn basic film terminology that you will need to know to work in the industry.

You will be taught the process of how to create a genuine performance on camera by learning how to; read a breakdown properly, prepare a self-tape and prepare for an in person audition, all based on industry standards. Students will begin to create a character library to have a wider range of choices all governed by their sense of style and work ethic.

Students will begin to work from sides (scripts from TV shows and notable films) and will learn about actor's protocol on set, crew glossary of terms and titles on a professional working set and their own personal placement as an actor. Students will do cold reads, character development and audition techniques. This course will continue to explore the fundamentals and process of film acting and presentation at a more advanced level.

Students will learn what casting directors expect from them, how to work with scene partners, creating continuity, and the basics of business. Students will select and work on a specific scene that will showcase their talent to be filmed and added to their profile on VMTM's website along with a slate-in video. All on camera video is coached and professionally edited.

Introduction to the Voice World 'Zoom' Classes

This four week course is an introduction to Voice Acting. Students will learn different formats and terms used by professionals in the industry. This course covers the basics in voice acting for commercials, narration, video games, audio books and more. Course topics include: pronunciation, emphasis, accents, characters, impersonations, mic technique, breathing, reading ahead, etc. Students will also learn the business side: submitting demos, casting calls, remote recording, in-person auditions and recording sessions. After the final class, students will record a voice demo that highlights their individuality and is a clear demonstration of their range and abilities as voice actors. The voice demo is included in the cost of the course and will include one narration piece, two to three 30 second commercial spots, and one to two characters in dialogue with each other.

Upon completion of this course and the voice demo, students will be represented by Vogue Models & Talent/Voice Division as their 'agent' for voice. Students will be required to register for our annual headsheet for representation.

Below is a list of suggested equipment for your class. It is up to the student to select the microphone that best suits them. Students can also record directly into their phone (without purchasing a microphone) through the free voice app iTalk.

Mike McCurlie - Voice Instructor
If you don't recognize Mike McCurlie's face, you will definitely recognize his sound. Mike's been the voice behind some of Canada's biggest brands with 40 years as Voice Director for MJM Media and 25 years voicing national spots and TV shows.

He's also produced some of the most memorable jingles in history like The African Lion Safari, La-Z-Boy and Pizza Pizza. As a graduate of The Wizard Academy in Texas, Mike also has writing credits on thousands of radio and TV commercials.

Mike's most recent passion project is his live streaming show from The Westdale Theatre, "Hamilton Originals", where he chats and performs with great Hamilton musicians. As a storyteller and interviewer, his approach is honest and unscripted.


Nigel Hamer - Acting Instructor
Nigel Hamer has been a working actor for over thirty years and in that time has been happy to have performed in many facets of the Performing Arts.

In theatre, he has spent many seasons with the Stratford Festival, has worked on Broadway in NYC, at the Grand Theatre in London, Victoria Playhouse in Vancouver, Theatre New Brunswick, Theatre by the Bay in Barrie, Tarragon Theatre, Theatre Passe Murraille, Canadian Stage Co. and Mirvish Productions all in Toronto and Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton. Most notable playing Delcourt in the Toronto Production of "Hogtown".

Recently he starred in the critically acclaimed productions of "Plaza Suite" and "Same Time Next Year" for the Orillia Opera House and Upper Canada Playhouse. His vast TV credits include, recurring roles in "Degrassi" and "Radio Free Roscoe"; roles in "Suits", "May Day", "Wingin' It", "ReallyMe", "11th Hour", "Blue Murder", "Sue Thomas FBE", "Reign" and most recently "The Good Witch".

Film Credits include, "Cadet Kelly", "Loretta Claiborne Story", "Dr. Cabbie", "Little Brother" "JFK", "Celine", "The Note", "Sons of the Mistletoe" and "St. Roz". Recently he won Best Actor in the CARE Film Festival for his role in "Reservation".

Nigel has voiced many notable roles in animation and commercials. He has also performed in many live corporate events and shot over 250 TV commercials.
